FRISCO, Texas — Voters gathered at the Islamic Center of Frisco for a public candidate forum featuring mayoral candidates John Keating, Shona Sowell, and Mark Hill, along with candidates for Frisco City Council and the Frisco ISD School Board.
The forum provided residents an opportunity to hear directly from candidates and ask questions about key community issues ahead of the upcoming election.
Several hundred attendees listened as candidates addressed topics including immigration, religion, and community concerns related to Frisco’s growing and changing population.
Moderators and audience members submitted questions asking how city leaders would respond to concerns raised by residents about demographics, culture, and maintaining unity in the city.
Candidates emphasized the importance of community dialogue, engagement with residents, and leadership that represents all parts of Frisco.
Some candidates highlighted the role of relationship-building and conversations with residents as a way to address tensions and find common ground across different communities.
The event also included candidates running for Frisco City Council Place 5 and Place 6, as well as Frisco ISD School Board positions, who answered questions about education, city development, and community priorities.
The candidate forum comes ahead of the Frisco general election scheduled for May 2, when voters will decide several local races including the mayoral contest.
