Storms overnight could bring heavy rain, gusty winds to North Texas
Warm, breezy conditions Wednesday are expected to give way to overnight storms, with more rain chances Friday into Saturday before cooler weather settles in for the weekend.
North Texas is expected to stay warm and windy through Wednesday, with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s before storms move in late tonight. Forecasters say the main window for showers and thunderstorms begins Wednesday evening and overnight, with the strongest risk near and west of the I-35 corridor.
The biggest concerns are heavy rain, damaging winds, and large hail in some areas. By the time storms reach more of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, they may be in a weaker phase, but wet roads and a messy Thursday morning commute are still possible.
Rain chances are expected to continue in waves through the end of the week. Thursday should turn partly sunny after early storms, with another storm chance Friday and a cooler, wetter setup arriving Saturday. Current forecast data shows Dallas dropping from the low 80s later this week to the upper 60s by Saturday.
For North Texans, the message is simple: enjoy the warm weather while it lasts, but keep an eye on the forecast tonight and again heading into the weekend.
